What a construction clean actually costs, before you call anyone

The number you searched for is probably one third of the job
Search for post-construction cleaning and you will find a price of roughly $0.15 to $0.60 per square foot. That figure is real, but it describes a single phase of cleaning, not a finished building.
Construction cleaning is normally done in three passes. A rough clean clears debris once the heavy trades are out. A final clean happens before handover, once fixtures and finishes are in. A touch-up clean follows after snagging and final inspections. Contractors price each pass separately, and the published rates for the three overlap enough that one quoted number tells you very little on its own.
Stack the published ranges and a full three-phase clean runs roughly $0.55 to $1.60 per square foot, before extras such as debris haulage, duct cleaning or floor sealing. On a 10,000 square foot fit-out that is the difference between a $2,000 line item and a $16,000 one. Which phases a quote covers is the single most useful question you can ask.
